In this video I share with you a recipe for a post-workout smoothie that I like to call the Protein Super Green Smoothie. A mistake I notice many people making is loading up homemade smoothies with tons of fruit. Of course, this makes them sweet and delicious but, after a workout in particular, your smoothie should be focused on a macro and micro nutrient ratio that will benefit you. A smoothie filled with tons of fruit can spike insulin and cause fat gain! Instead, try this balanced post workout recipe where protein is the star, and fruit and vegetables work in balance to bring you all the macro and micro nutrients your body is craving after that awesome workout!

Recipe:
– 1 cup water
– 1 scoop of your favorite Vanilla Protein powder
– 1 half of a banana
– 1 cup of dinosaur kale (or kale of your choosing)
– 1/2 cup of quick cooking oats
– 1 cup of baby spinach

Throw them all in a blender and enjoy the sweet, delicious taste of the bananas and kale, while this perfect blend of carbs and protein boost your post-workout gains!

Hey guys I’m Tom from Spartan Home
Fitness and I help people get fit,
get healthy, and expand their minds.
Now, in today’s video I’m going to show
you guys one of my favorite current
post-workout recipes
and I like to call this the “protein
super green smoothie”.
Now you’re probably wondering.. greens in
protein shake?
What is going on here? Well I like to
reduce my fruit intake because fruit as
you guys know
breaks down into a sugar called fructose
and that could get a little messy with
losing weight and especially building
muscle in certain instances,
so the reason why I like to use greens
in my shake is they are filled with a
ton
of micronutrients, spinach and kale for
instance
are broken down into vitamins a, k
b6, calcium, magnesium and
the list goes on. Okay so let’s get into
it guys!
You’re gonna need dino kale which I like
to use dino kale
instead of the regular rugged kale
because it actually has this sweetness
and tartness in it
and complements the fruit really well as
opposed to regular kale
and i’m going to use baby spinach as the
greens and of course we’re going to have
vanilla protein.
You’re going to need oats and we’re
going to add
bananas in this as well so let’s get to
it!
So we’re going to start off with about 1
cup of water,
we’re going to add one scoop of vanilla
whey protein powder of your choice
each brand comes out to around 25 grams
per scoop try to eye it out around 25
grams.
We’re going to chop up half
banana so we’re adding about a full cup
of dino kale like I said before the dino
kale
has this sweetness and tartness that
most other forms of kale don’t have
and it complements the banana really
well.
Oatmeal is a great slow digesting
complex carb that has a lot of fiber in
it and keeps your insulin level stable,
so i love to add this to my shakes! We’re
going to add about a half a cup,
last but not least we’re going to add in
spinach about a half a cup,
again loaded with so many micronutrients.
Alright so let’s blend it up! I want to
really emphasize
blending it up for about a minute/ a
minute and a half really to grind down
those greens so it’s almost like a juice
when you finish up.
So let’s go!
Okay so let’s open this up, wow
guys look at all those bubbles look at
that green!
It almost looks like it’s grounded down
into a juice which is
awesome and I promise you it’s not as
nasty as it looks!
That dino kale, the sweetness and
tartness adds to the banana
and the vanilla protein powder. Alright
So let’s get this thing in the glass!
This recipe has 33 grams of protein, 54
grams of carbs, 3 grams of fat
coming to a total of 373 calories!
Alright guys so there you have it, a
protein super green
smoothie! On a cellular level your
mitochondria
is going to be thanking you and you’re
going to feel more present,
aware have some more mental clarity
that’s the benefit of getting all these
micronutrients into your diet and adding
greens.
Something i wasn’t really aware of
and in tune when I was in my 20s..
I was so obsessed with getting my macros
in and just getting big and bulky
so adding greens and adding to your
health
will go a long way! Cheers guys! If you

time my friends!
