I can’t say enough about the way I feel about my trainer Tom Spartinos and his fitness teammate, and fiancé Tori! I’ve been training off and on with Tom for 10 years. When I turned 51, we initially met in NYSC in Huntington, where management paired me with Tom for several training sessions.  I’ve always enjoyed Athletics, but was new to the regular training in the gym. The work outs were tough, but manageable and gave me considerable results, that empowered me to grow stronger over time, and able to meet my 30 pound weight loss goal. Tom was also patient and needless to say, he was a great source of continued encouragement.  We kept in touch,  while I worked full-time and was pursuing a second Masters degree, as a single mother of three …

As life would have it, I got tired of the gym culture, was facing a possible knee surgery, and tried to work out regularly on my own. Tom out grew the New York sports club in Huntington, and had bigger aspirations to go out on his own. When the time was right for me, I saw no reason but to get back on the course, and stay with him for my fitness needs.

Training sessions eventually turned into intense workouts at home, both on my deck outside, and inside our garage, depending on the weather.  I started with Tom when I was 51 and have always had a battle with weight. Tom has always tailored workouts to meet my health goals with a professional edge, and he has made them challenging enough to demand a good sweat, but not made the workouts beyond my ability to ever make me want to give up my vision…

I have gone through many seasons with Tom, not only as my personal trainer, but I’d also say he’s a personal coach. He has promised to be available if I ever have a weak moment (sweets, pasta, etc.)while out to dinner or at a special event, when my will power is at a low, and if I need a bit of coaching over the phone. He has texted me through it…

And now at 61, 10 years after we first started working together, Tom has elevated his business to a new digital level, and we are doing virtual training sessions two times a week, as I approach retirement, so I can meet the healthy standards for which I aspire, in the next phase of my life.  Initially, when Covid hit, I really didn’t think I would like to do the workouts virtually, but Tom makes it fun, and the flexibility it gives me to be away, but stay on my fitness track, has made my training much more consistent, and with powerful results. He can train me anywhere, at any time! Amazing!

When we began. Tom gave me a nickname. He called me “The Project”.  Through the ups and downs of life, (parenting, surgeries, caring for my 90 year old father, etc.) I have proudly continued working with Tom, as “The Project” and I see myself forging ahead and continuing to make fitness a top priority in my life, so I can be there, as strong as I can be, with my partner, for my family, for a long time…

Thank you Tom! You’re the BEST!!
